Possible bad ECM or underlying issue.
Possible bad ECM or underlying issue.
I know you guys are tired of seeing ECM & injector pulse questions but i couldn’t find a post here to answer mine problem. Recently purchased an 89 T/A w/ 305 TBI setup. Was told by previous owner that the car has been sitting up for years. I’ve been trying to start the engine for a few weekends now. My initial problem was no injector pulse. I swapped the fuel pump, ICM, & TPS. Neither solved the issue. The car would crank with starter fluid and then die because of the injectors not pulsing. I borrowed an ecm, swapped the prom and viola. The injectors pulsed but the car would not stay running. Went out today to crank it and it ran for all of 30 seconds no problem. It stalled and now the injectors no longer pulse. I have ruled out the vats. Wondering if anyone has run into a situation where their car was causing ECMs to go out. Please help.

I would be looking closely at the wiring to the ECM and the pins, etc on the ECM connectors. Sounds like you touched them and it worked and then stopped. You can also verify powers and grounds to the ECM, and check alternator output, AC ripple, etc.
