Hi members, I am having an issue getting my firebird started, I have an 83 daytona 500 firebird with the 305 lu5 crossfire injection, s code, been trying to track down the issue that is preventing the engine from firing to life, got fuel to both injectors but no squirt , got spark, according to the manual the problem should be down to bad hei module, is there any way to verify the module is broken? , tested pin 2 on the ecu to dizzy (pulse reference) no short or cut, is there any thing else other than the module that can stop the injectors firing? Also at the rear of the engine I got a black square connector labelled wire 2 on one side and wire 3 on the other side, off the connector is a black wire with a loop terminal, looks like a ground, is it?, many thanks and best wishes for your time to respond
Thanks for your reply, it has 10 volts on it, i thought it is a ground, one end goes to blower heater relay, the other end goes into center of bulkhead with heater blower wires, would love to know why it is there, if it is a ground for the heater why is it in the middle of the bulkhead instead of by the heater or by the heater controls, thanks
If all else fails, dig through the wiring diagrams in the service manual. It'd sure be dumb if they used a black wire with an uninsulated terminal for something that's not a ground, but I wouldn't put it past GM.
That's the problem, because gm didn't do the best of jobs when it comes to manual design and details, trying to track down what the wire is for is my concern, the manual shows a picture of the interior wiring but nothing of any good detail for the engine bay, following the manual is at times hair pulling experience, some details for one section are all over the manual, many thanks and best wishes
