How to tell ECM without car?
Hey, my car is in the shop, but I already know I need a new ECM, I don't know exactly what model it is, would it be possible to figure out just by my car specs?
I eventually want to get a chip for it as well once I get my new exhaust on.
My car is an
88 Iroc Camaro
5 Speed
G92
145gauge cluster
Power windows and Doors
If someone could point me in the direction of a new or well taken care of module, that would be great. I just want to have it in when I get my car back from the shop...
Thanks!

How do you "know" you need one?

Re: How to tell ECM without car?
A few issues I couldn't trace to anything else.
Fans running in the on position. Some intermittent running issues followed by a SES light. I also believe my mechanic mentioned something about it, but that was 4-5 years ago so I cant remember exactly.
I believe the PO had done some fiddling around that wasnt mentioned. Just kinda throwing things at the issues.

Re: How to tell ECM without car?
It is unlikely that you need to replace the ECM. You need to do the proper troubleshooting first.

Re: How to tell ECM without car?
I probably did already.
I say probably cause I was looking to fix this issue 5 years ago, and I had this written down as my solution.
I'm getting one in, we will see if it fixes the issue or not, if not I can just return it or save it for a rainy day.
