730 $8d iac issues
Hello, just wondering if anyone has experienced iac issues with the 1227730 ecm.
Tuning a car for a guy and iac won’t move in part but starts to move in drive.

160 in park and slowly lowers in drive but never really drops real lower than 99 last idle log I watched.

Ok so the opposite. Did he close his throttle blades or something? Seems like the IAC is trying to supply all the air rather than supplementing the air that should be going through the throttle blades.
Maybe have him go through the idle reset procedure.

I’m wondering if it’s a quality control issue with a first throttle body.
I had him go through the minimum idle procedure then set the tps.
Not sure how he could of pulled the iac plug it’s buried under the throttle body between runners.
ill question him some more. I told him he could also watch iac count warm and lower down to 20-25 counts.
i does have a rather large cam that’s making it difficult to tune.

I also had some issues with my IAC connector not making good contact with the FIRST throttle body orientation. The severe change in IAC valve position stretches the wiring and changes the angle of the wires coming out of the plug such that it caused connection issues with the wiring and plug from 1986. I replaced the IAC plug and a good section of the wiring with newer, more supple wire and resolved that issue.
It is possible to dig around in there and unplug the IAC but really not needed. You can also remove the TB and get at it that way.
