1987 iroc ecm issue?

Hi I have a 1987 camaro iroc and I think there is a issue with the ecm, the car is getting power and cranking however when I turn the key to the on position the engine light is not illuminating and the injectors aren’t getting power.. I recently picked up the car and I noticed it has a remanufactured ecm.

Re: 1987 iroc ecm issue?

Replacing it and see if it fixes your problem would be the fast and easy way to test that.

ECMs don't die very often. I have had a car with a faulty ECM (but it didn't fully die). The no SES light makes me suspicious of a poor ground or lack of power somewhere. Things you could check:
  • verify power at the injector fuses
  • verify top of the fuse box is clear of debris
  • verify signal from the distributor to the ECM
  • verify all the parts that have been replaced are installed correctly

The diagnostic flowchart for this issue in the factory service manual (not Haynes) could be helpful.
