I ran the HP on my 383 TPI. Not the Terminator, but I was very happy with it. Great customer service, very active and helpful forum, and loads of people out there who'll tune if you decide you don't want to. The self tuning did great, and allowed me to have a very streetable car while I learned to fine tune. Lot of ability to add functionality too if you want to add on functionality. Nitrous, fan control, gauges, etc. etc.

I ran the Holley HP for years now running the Dominator and definitely love the Dominator over the HP. There's nothing wrong the Terminator X stuff lots of guys run it because of its great price point.

The Terminator is a cheaper ECU for a reason:

Entry level ECU
Terminator X - no trans control
Terminator X max - with trans control
No low impedance injectors - no drivers for them
Can only use a Bosch 4.9 wideband o2
Not fully potted so it needs to be mounted in interior
Limited to 4 inputs 4 outputs , can use I/O box for more
I'm sure there's more in not thinking of

The software is pretty close for both Terminator X and HP/Dominator. Not sure what kind of budget your playing with but I'd recommend going with the Terminator X max system to have that transmission control just in case you switch things up and toss a 4l60e/80e in the car and you won't have to mess around with a separate transmission controller. You'd just need to buy a harness and add transmission to your current tune

Where did you mount the Dominator ECM? It's huge by large so I'm looking for ideas.

Hahaha yea it's huge! I made a bracket and mounted it under the dash. I don't have heat, AC or any of the related climate control stuff so there's just a huge void back there perfect for that ECU, relays etc etc

Re: 3RD gen with Holley Terminator

I installed a Terminator X on my 89 GTA. I went with a dual sync distributor as well to switch to sequential fuel injection. The install was decent, and I was able to start the car up and drive it around. I will get it fully tuned once I get a few more things done. (Need wheels and tires to be dyno worthy). At this point in time I don't have any cons. The pros were that it was easy to wire up and most everything was labeled. I had to change the MAP sensor, IAT and add an oil pressure sensor to the back of the block.
