Difference Between 7730 ECMs? Best One? Latest One?
Hey all,
I have searched a few different ways and not found the answer I'm looking for, so if I missed it, please link me...
I was trouble shooting some electrical gremlins in my 91 Z28 TPI (rest in sig) and initially thought it was the ECM. Turned out to be the ICM actually. That said, I ended up with 3 ECMs in my posetion all at the same time and need to return two of them. I was wondering if anyone knows what the differences were in them over the years. Are there certain identifiers I should look for in the circuit boards, on the chips themselves? I figure the one manufactured the latest will have the newest style board and chips, making it more reliable, maybe even have faster processing power in certain ways which could benefit things.
Looking them over at first, I see there is a long identification number on the board itself right next to where the chip connects in, there seem to be some small differences there, Logically the highest number, or latest later in the alphabet would be the newest, right?
Also, one of them has this sheet metal "bridge" over one of the chips near the center of the board, I do not know what the purpose is of this or if it indicates anything about the build date or style.
Lastly, it looks like one has some sort of sealant sprayed or brushed all over the board encasing it, possibly protecting it against moisture or vibration? Not certain about this one.
They are actually all Cardone Reman units, but there are clear differences, so I want to make sure I keep the one that is most likely to give me the best performance and life over the next many years.

All - Cardone remanufactured units. (77-7730)
73G667P7 (73G667 P-8) - currently in use. Purchased about 2 years ago from Oriley Autoparts. No metalbar. Chips say Korea only. Prom receptical dark brown.
Im inclined to just stick with this onethe 73G and Korea markings may indicate ot is slightly newer than the 73F Delco marked version... Just a guess though...
73G667P7 (Without bar) (73G667 P-8) - Recently purchased from Amazon. (About $50 cheaper) Chips labeled Delco and Korea. Prom receptical light brown.
