92 camaro rs stalling when braking

Hi I'm new to 3rd gen camaros and I'm not sure if anyone's on here anymore as all the threads ive seen are from the early 2000s but I have a 1992 camaro rs with a 305 TBI ant it stalls when I brake it doesn't matter if I'm rolling slow, barely moving, or going down the highway, it boggs down and dies, ive replaced the ECM, IAC, MAP sensor, checked for vacuum leaks, and I got a rebuild kit for the fuel pump and rebuilt it last December. My grandfather has worked with these engines since they came out in 76 and even he is stumped. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Re: 92 camaro rs stalling when braking

Sorry I took a while to respond. I don't know what the vss code is but my obd I scanner shows no codes and the check engine light only comes on after the car stalls, I got a electric fuel pump from NAPA last December, and the brakes don't feel spongy. I seen on another camaro website that the brake booster check valve may be an issue so I picked up one of those yesterday and will install it tomorrow.

I’d try to cure the erratic Vss issue

You cannot guess and why you're throwing parts and money at the problem
You need a good OBD1 scanner that would allow driving the car while the scanner records what the engine parameters are reporting
and then later replay the recordings, analyze the data and even send the recordings for other to analyze

How did you test if there were any vacuum leaks ?
Best is using a smoker, they are cheap in cost, even Amazon sells them
Does this have power brakes ?
If so, maybe when you step on brake pedal causes either a vacuum leak or adding to engine load causing the ECM to react incorrectly

Can this happen when at idle and step on the brakes ?
Auto or manual tranny ?

I assume fuel rail pressure would be 43 PSI, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on rail and check that ?
