91 TBI to 88 TPI

I am picking up a TPI system off a 88 Firebird. I will be putting it on a 1991 RS 305. My question is will the ECM and harness from the 88 TPI hook up to everything on my car once the TPI is installed, will it create any problems with the airbag? Should I buy the harness and ECM from a 91 Camaro w/ TPI, or will the 88 work just fine?

Thanks, all help is greatly appreciated!!

using the 91 is the way to go. there are some differences thou. The 91 is MAP based instead of MAF. There is no plug and play to get the 88 into a 91 that I know of. the 91 system is worth the effort.

Also, your VSS may cause a problem. The 88 MAF systems can't handle the 4000 pulse/mile Magnetic Sensor used on the later model SD TPI. I am not positive on your 1991 TBI, but it too uses the Magentic VSS like the TPI cars, then you will need to address that issue if you go MAF.

Conversley, if you go to the 7730 SD ECM, like Grumpy suggests ,it won't matter as it supports both. Also, the 7730 is a dime a dozen at the wrecking yards. Many early 90s 3.1 V6 cars (except W bodies) used the 7730. Cavaliers are a good example. Also, you can grab the harness and use parts of it like the connectors.
