I was reading through the Car Craft May issue & they did a carb to EFI comparison & they used the new Gen VII ECM & software. They said:

"DFI's new Gen VII Windows compatible software was installed in a laptop computer, basic setup parameters were entered, and the engine started and constucted its own baseline fuel curve - just as ACCEL advertised"

this implies to me that it has an auto learn feature. Has anyone run this & does it really work as advertised? does it also have a closed loop feature as well?

The Gen 7 DFI does have an autolearn feature.

Really, you just enter your engine and fuel system parameters, then the Volumetric Efficiency Predictor utility constructs a base fuel map that will be good enough to safely start and run the motor.

Yes, it does have closed loop fueling capability, the wideband O2 sensor is optional. In fact, even when running in open loop mode, the ECM will still fuel your engine based on the settings in the target air to fuel ratio table. It calculates an estimated MAF based on the volumetric efficency of the motor.

Very intersting. I would guess that the Fuel table still needs to be tweeked in, if it "estimates" rather than "learning".
