should i switch the chip?
i currently have a hypertech thermomaster chip ,ive done everything to the motor except cam and heads..........intake ,exhaust, ignition, etc. etc.............i know once i do the cam and heads i will have to have a custom chip done.....ive read thru all the tech articles but i really dont think id know what to change or how to change it............anyway ed wright has a stage II chip for $160...........do you think id notice a difference if i bought that and swapped it for the hypertech just for now? or should i just wait probly be a year or so till i can do the motor

Yes, a custom eprom burnt with HANDS ON access, like you only get by burning yourself, will generally gain performance as you are getting closer to optimal results.
Getting someone to burn your eprom by "specifications" via an e-mail or phone generally will exceed an "off-the-shelf" eprom but it still doesn't compare to one you burn yourself. Plus, if you modify your motor further, you generally have to "pay again". There isn't any "lifetime" modifications allowed.
Learn to burn your own. Then as you modify your motor further then you can "tweak" the eprom to take FULL advantage at no extra cost.
