New to prom burning and hving very strange results. (Kinda Long)

Hi,

Well I finally got datamaster hooked up to my computer and decided to go right after the VE tables (considering I'm on kinda a limited amount of time, smog check is due) I started out as Trax's article said with letting it idle and then take those reading back and burning a new chip. Well, in those readings I found I was running about 6.4% lean. So I altered those fields in which I had readings by multiplying them by 1.064. This is correct so far right?

I put the new chip in and had to go to work so I linked up the lap top and took readings all the way to work (about a 1/2 hour drive.) When I looked at them I was now runnning 25% lean or maxed out at 160. Now I realize that I need to mess with the upper VE tables but the lower ones at idle should have been close.

Second, There were a few times on the freeway that my injectors completely shut off (no BPW or DC) for a few seconds, I noticed that the VSS failed at roughly the same time what would cause this?

Ok last thing, The injectors are 24# SVO's on a pretty healthy 355. The Inj constant is set @ about 26. I could only get the DC up to about 20% under WOT and <10% at idle, shouldn't the DC be more up around 50% for WOT and at least a little higher for idle? How would I go about fixing this.

Thanks for all your help guys I know this is a lot of information and reading.

Jim

Please, Please help this is really starting to give me nightmares. I have lowered the INJ constant 3 times. It is now down to 21.5 # W/26# injectors. Whats the deal? Thanks again.

Like Grumpy says, you have to give the engine what it wants.

I can't offer any specific advice, but the fact that Ford injectors are rated at higher pressure (and your constant is so low w.r.t. that) makes me wonder if you don't have a vacuum leak or something. Also, if you have a radical cam, you could just be blowing mixture out the exhaust at idle. I would make sure that the engine is OK mechanically (leaks, timing, new plugs, etc.) and then just keep on hackin'.

good luck!

I found out what was wrong. I had a major exhaust leak right near the O2 sensor. All fixed now and things seem to be better. Thanks though.
