So what exactly does it do to the ecm when you short the aldl and use a 10k resistor to put it into aldl mode. I know the iacs lock for aldl mode but thats about it.
I tried using winaldl to monitor my spark knocks, since i helped jonas figured out how to do it. Driving with the aldl shorted causes huge amounts of knock, audibly as well. In aldl mode its only audible at wot at upper rpms. With nothing shorted i get no audible knock and the car is noticibly faster. Since i need to use a 10k resistor to get serial data from my ecm, the act of monitoring for knock is whats causing the knock.
Sounds like the heisenberg uncertainty theory to me, the act of measuring is changing the result..haha.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the aldl shorted the car runs in limp home mode right? Meaning that it will just shoot in the amount of fuel and the timing that's on the chip, it won't adjust anything at all no matter what the maf, o2 sensor, or anything says.
No idea about the 10k resistor.
No idea about the 10k resistor.
Actually using a 3.9k resistor puts it in limp home mode
Ok what ive found for the 10k is this
Bypasses Lean clamp for integrator
IAC Reset if RPM > 2K for the first time
Integrator reset criteria disabled
Burst Knock Retard Disabled
Bypass RPM and Temp Criteria for ESC Enable
Set Idle to 1000 RPM
Could anyone shed some light on what these mean?
The one thing that concerns me is the burst knock retard disable. Does that mean the ecm wont pull timing when it knocks. What im worried about is that engine is knocking in normal mode the same as aldl mode, and the ecm is pulling timing and i just cant hear it, and have no way to check it.

Nick,
Is WinALDL showing that you are running particularly LEAN?
If so, have you thought of bumping FP? Have you checked FP?

glad to see you here dominic...
My ints and blms are pretty much right at 128 most of the time. I was considering a bump in pressure after my mods, i dont have a gauge right now. My pump is a new 85, all the filters are new, so im pretty sure my fuel system is good to go.
I put some 94 in it 1/2 hour ago, seemed to make a big difference, it went a little sideways on the gear shift. I'll hook the laptop up later and see what its doing.

Well i did some logging on the way home, the 94 seems to have cleared the problem right up..the only knock its picking up is occasional false knock from the drive train.
i did some wot runs the only knock it showes are at 5000rpm right during the gear shift, from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd.
No knocks the rest of the grid.
