870 PROM programming?

Been reading around here and elsewhere and haven't seen a whole lot on programming chips for the 870 ECM. Haven't seen any mention of the .bin files and such for them either.
Is there anyone out there programming these chips?
I might need advice later

The site you want to check out is http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/

He made the switch from the 870 to a 165 and then to a 730. No one bothers much with the 870 because of the slow aldl, its old and unique application, and the small amount of tuning that can be done as the prom holds a bunch of parameters but the ROM, which can't be programmed AFAIK, holds the rest. You can get software for editing it at tunercat.com, if you so choose. BIN files should be at DIY EFI and at the site above.

Thanks, I am wanting to stay with the 870 since I have a spare harness and ECM for my car. I read through the swap to the 165, it seems simple enough but I 'm going to try to tune the one I have.

a few verified images for the 870 for both auto and 4+3 are lurking in my computer-email off list if that sounds like it might help.

Thanks Grumpy. I have decided to go ahead with the swap to the 165 ECM since there is more avialable for it.

Smart move going with the 165 ecm.Your going to want to use the 6E. The 1989 code is much more defined. You will only need to unplug the cold start injector. But it's just as easy to go with speed density.I swapped from the 870 to the 165.Grumpy suggested to swap to the sd system.BUT I did'nt listen and this will be the second ecm swap (to sd).The maf sensor is at least $150.So instead of buying a new maf I'm going to sd.Damn I should have listened to Bruce.

The price of the MAF doesn't bother me, if you get the Wells MAF it is supposed to have a lifetime warrenty. I want to learn the programming of the MAF itself. I believe that it can be reprogrammed along with the ECM for higher values than it currently uses.

I already have the 6E mask and ARAP .bin file and have started modifying the bin for use (disabled VATS, reset fan on/off temps). And disabling the CS injector is a matter of pulling a 3 amp fuse.

All I need now is the ECM, and that is supposed to be on its way.
