Got a weird one here
Alright car started on first turn of the key all the time. no problems. then one night I pulled out my memcal and showed my friedn how it turned out soldering the ZIF in. then a few days later I go to start the car so I can move it and it won't start just cranks and cranks. I pull a plug and I am getting spark. I can hear the fuel pump prime and coe on during cranking. then I proceed to check the fuel injectors and none are pulsing. The only thing I had touched since the last time it ran was the memcal. I am positive of that. Is there anyway possibly I could have screwed it up not to work? I tried a few different programs to see if maybe the chip was screwed up and still nothing. I hope someone can help. thanks

anyone know why the ECM would not pulse the injectors? It has me stumped really badly. How it ran fine I didn't touch nothing for a week and go out there and it won't start. anyone got any ideas? I have got a new memcal and ECM and still the same thing. I know the VATS is disabled. I am getting spark but the fuel injectors are not pulsing.

ALright here is what else I have noticed. When I have the Pocket Programmer 2 program open. I have a non-Flash chip. If I hit to program device it will say device is programmed. Then if I hit blank check it will say that the devide is erased. Then if I hit verify device to buffer it won't verify. I think there is something wrong with the programmer. What do you guys think?
For your first problem, do you get a constant SES light, and fans on? That would point to a memcal problem.
For the second one, doesn't blank check erase the chip? If it's erased, it won't match the buffer, so it should fail.

Before when I would hit blank check it would say either device is erased or device not erased. The only way to erase this chip is to expose it to UV light. I don't think my Programer is working properly.

just as a reality check, you want to blank check, then program, then verify devise.
If it won't verify there's no need in plugging it in.
As far as the injectors not pulsing, is the checksum correct?.
Fuses good?.
Are you sure the VATs has been put to sleep?.

Well I deleted the programmer program then reinstalled it. Now I can get it to program a flash chip, but it won't program a regular chip. It says device is programmed but when I hit verify device it says it comes up blank. so a flash chip will work but the regular won't. And I do have it set to the proper device when I try to program it. I got it to kick over but it was running like crap because there must be somethign wrong with the memcal. My SES light is not on at all when I turn the key forward. does this mean that my ZIF is not properly soldered in?

maybe you got a bad solder joint on the zif??? chip in correctly??maybe try using a different memcal/zif adapter altogether, or the stock memcal and chip if possible. its possible something broke in yours, or you knocked something loose re-installing it. Good luck

The only prob with trying to use the stock chip is that damn VATS. I got a pianless kit with a SD system and so I can't use the stock chip because of VATs. I still don't know why it won't program a regular chip. Everytime I verify it after I hit program device it says device did not verify to buffer. and its full of FF's which mean its blank.
I got the car to fire a little but it wasn't staying running. And that was after I got flash chip to finally program. So the reason it wasn't running was because the chip was blank. Problem one solved. Now I got to mess with this memecal to see why I don't have a SES light........... to be continued.
DAMN I love my CAR!
