question bout LT1 ECM

ok, I am "throwing" an LT1 intake on my car, and the intake comes with the speed density sensor in the front.. (that is what it is, right?)... but anyways, I am putting it on an 87 with MAF and I am wondering what kind of work it would take to run both. Some one mentioned to me that LT1s use both SP and MAF, so is there a way to get a 4th gen ECM to work in my car or would I have to replace EVERYTHING. just an idea... or could I just get a speed density ECM and hook it up to my LT1 instead of MAF?? what do you guys think the best way to go is?

thanks for the help in advance.

How are you going to interface the Optispark?.
The 8051 LT1 PCM has an option flag for running in MAP only mode.

well since I have the MAP sensor, should I just get a MÅP third gen ECM and hook it up to the sensor what came with the LT1?? right now I am running MAF. . . isn't MAP much better for prom tuning, just have to do it more often with every mod U ad??

MAP is more intuitive to play with in my book. It also isn't displacement sensitive.
It is a bit more finicky to work with, and yes you have to change it more often the MAF for minor changes.

in your opinions, what do you think would be the best for me? I have a 383 all forged internal, right now stock lightly ported L98 heads and a ported TPI intake... by the end of the summer I am going to have an LT1 intake and heavily ported L98 heads with larger valves, a MUCH larger cam than the 350 one which is in there and a number of other mods to come. Speed density is easier to fine tune but slightly more involved if I have caught anything so far, correct?? but that seems to me like it would be my best bet because I have heard of people who easily top out the flow measurement capabilities of their MAF sensors before even wide open throttle. Just trying to get a feel of other people's opinions out there. thanks.
