rich\lean error codes

Just how long and how far rich or lean would you have to be to throw an arror code? I've been lean according to my O2 and blm for the longest time and still no codes. What gives?

You'll have to read thru the code of you application to see what the malfunction code limits and timers are set for.

Lean varies in degree. Running at 133 BL would be considered lean, but you'll never trip a code 44 for that.

What about 182 for a fine BLM? It only does that at idle since at cruising it jumps around whenever I touch the gas. So it wont get there under 'normal' conditions. But I am worried if I have to sit in traffic for a long time.

Aslo, are the codes reset everytime you replace the chip or does that only happen when you disconnect power to the computer?

A 182 fine trim is not the same as a 182 coarse trim.

And you replace the prom without disconnecting power to the ecm? I believe the code bits are stored in RAM so they may not reset if just the prom is reset? The answer is in the code though.

Thanks for the help, but that sorta leads to a new question. What do you use to tune, coarse or fine? It looks like the fine will bounce around quite a bit and the coarse depends alittle on load. Am I even close on this one?
