TC lock up parameters?
Please bare with me cause i'm pretty ignorant when it comes to PROMs. But I've been having trouble with my TC not locking up after my new motor and new chip install. I was running at 140-140 degrees with a 160 stat and got it to lock up once one night but after that, I couldn't get it to lock again. I know that it was running this cool cause I could pop my hood after running for about 30 minutes and touch any part of the motor exept the header and and hold my hand there without burning myself, including the radiator and upper hose. Then I put in a 180 stat and now I can get it to lock during the day, but not at night and it now runs about 150-160 degrees. So I'm really thinking that it has to do with engine temp. I guess the guy who burned my chip used the stock setttings for a stock 195 stat when I was trying to run a 160. I would really like to go back to the 160 stat cause it was making awsome power while that cool but need to get my TC to lock cause it is not helping my milage and heating up my tranny. What part of the PROM has to be changed and what values should be used to run this cool? Any help would be greatly apperciated.
