Memcal Questions, with Pics

Okay I have been reading a bit and I found out that the 305 & 350 Speed Density SD memcals were different. Okay no problem I understand that one, but I need a little help. Is there anyway to tell them apart? Before I knew they were different I modified 2 with Atmel Flash Proms and they are both identical except for numbers on the ESC board. Can anyone help me? Which is the 305 and which is the 350

I was also wondering if there is a difference in the MAF memcals besides the program, because their ESC are on the firewall??

THanks
JZ

The way I've been able to tell them apart is to run the 4 alpha code found on the "silver sticker" covering the window through the BCC decoder.

If you do not have the sticker, the next way is to physically get the bin saved and then read it with TunerCat. By looking at the cylinder displacement, you can see if it is for a 305 or 350.

However, if the BIN has been modified and the silver sticker covering the UV window is gone, I cannot help you. FYI, my original AUJP 350 TPI SD Memcal has "1R0170" over it's ESC circuitry.

I've also been told (though I cannot confirm) that the ESC part of the 305 and 350 MAF memcals are not different enough to worry about and can be used on either. Only SD is concerned whether it is a 305 or a 350.

Unless the tuner is really clear on tip-in transistional stuff, it's far better to suggest they get the right memcal to begin with.

If you're counting at all for the K/S to cover your butt on the timing tables, it's far cheaper in a long run to use the exact sensor and memcal. If after you get going you want to play games or have problems that's one thing, but you need a good setup to start with.

I have enough MAF memcals to stop a bus in its tracks... all of them have the same part numbers on everything but the e-prom and silver sticker. I have a variety from 86-89 305 and 350 stuff. Dunno if that means the same info is on those little chips but I have faith.
