Paging Craig Moates....

Craig,

I have a quick question for you.

I have been racking my brain with my current setup. The best MPH I have been able to get it 105 MPH through the traps at 12.8.

My tune is pretty much on 128 BLM and WOT AF pretty much there.

Here is the question. The preformance of the car has been dropping off as of late. Worse and worse.

We logged some runs at the strip the last time and while checking other parameters we came across something that might well be the problem.

Here is what we found. The RPM at above 4000 to redline seem to do as follows.

4000
4050
4100
4200
4150
4200
4350
4350
4350
4450
4300
etc.

They seems to flatline and also go back. Yesterday I changed everything in the distributer with new components. Took the car out and sure enough it still had those spots in it.

I for the life of me can not feel any mis while at WOT. It almost seems like spark scatter etc.

My question, before I go chasing my tail and throwing a bunch of money at the problem is does your software ( which I love) have a glitch that you know of that could be causing the weird readings?

If you could let me know I would be greatly appreciated. Anyone else if you have an idea of what could cause this, please let me know.

Thanks.

Jesse

Hmm, I don't think so. I've logged RPMs up throuhg 5500 or so without a problem if I remember correctly. The RPM calculation is pretty straightforward (even though lacking in 'resolution). For the MAF and MAP, it's just N*25, where N=logged byte value (0=255), so the 'max' RPM you can see is 6375.

Just checked, and that holds throughout. Wonder if you can be getting some squirrely tach readings? You have something else tapped into your ignition stuff?

May wanna get after that tail, unless someone has some info that is otherwise clarifying...

Here is the scoop guys.

I remembered I had a log of a guys car that came up and I tuned.

Guess what. His has the same weird spots in them. Therefore I think it is either a screw-up in the wiring or something.

Wonder is it is a sign that my ECM might be flaking out?

Guess I will have to do some digging.
