ALDL cables?

Hey everyone, just have a few questions about building/buying an aldl cable.

I recently aquired my own laptop and want to get into logging and burning chips on my 7747 equipped truck. I downloaded and installed winaldl to the laptop and tried to use the cable from TTS powersystems that i have for my sy, but it didn't want to link.

Does anyone know if the datamaster cable will work with winaldl?

Also, if and when I build a cable, which one is better 1 or 2 transistors? What are each used for?

I did some searching around, seems that most guys use the one transistor cable, just figured i'd build the one that work best for everything, if thats at all possible.

I have done some searching around, just hopeing someone can fill me in.

Thanks

Tony

The second transistor in the two transistor interface is for data going from the laptop to the ECM. Older ECM's (7747 included) only use one-way communication so the extra transistor is not needed.

Will the one transistor cable work with data master on a165 ECM.
And where can I get an ALDL Molded connector?

Thanks

160 baud will work with one transistor on the 165.
To use 8192 baud you need two transistors.
I don't know what data-master uses but probably 8192 baud.

You can use a two transistor cable with the 160baud ecm but communication will only be one way and slow.

Autoxray sells em for like $25. Since their hand held unit plugs into GM, Ford, and Chrysler they have interchangable cords. I don't know the part number but call up Summit, they've got it.
