False Knock and Knock Attack Rate

I am getting some knock retard at idle because of the noisy valvetrain. I don't want to try to the teflon tape on the knock sensor because I really don't want to decrease its efficiency. Am I correct in thinking I could change the knock attack rate in Tunercat to 0 under 1200 RPM so it won't retard at anything less than that or would this be a mistake?

you could zero the amount of knock retard at 1200rpm and under.
just make sure you dont drive up a hill luuging the engine using 86 octane fuel with a big heavy trailer on a 115F degree day. i think youll be ok otherwise. but then agian whats so nosiy with the valve trian ?? lash to loose or a big mechanical roller cam and double roller chain or gear drive ? maybed you could hush up the valve train. better to have knock protection then not have it. where are you getting knock at idle only ?

Has a fair size solid roller, and double roller timing chain. Also Crower recommends lash to be set at .026 & .028 which seems a lttle loose. If I give it a little gas to bump the idle up the knock goes away. I had emailed Ed Wright a while back and he told me the solid roller would drive the knock sensor crazy. I figured since the car has a 3500 RPM stall in it it couldn't do anything really below 1200 RPM anyway.

hmm yeah i would say go ahead and pull the knock reatdr amount under 1200rpm. or you could bump the idle just a bit. that never good for the lumpty lumpty sound though.but be careful listen for real knock.
