SES reading?

We have a 95 Cavalier, that is throwing an SES light.
Can this be read with a paper clip like my TBI? I has a different plug.

look in the owners manual. of all things they are required to tell you h to read diagnostics codes. was part of the legslation for obd along with where the connector is mounted as well. there about 1000 other things that went in there but to many to list. if not call the dealer and ask how to have the ses ligth flash the codes. they have to tell you its a federal law. ( although no one seems to know that) wierd huh.

Your 95 cav is OBDII equipped. You cannot read codes by the flash method, it requires some sort of scan tool.

My son took it over to Checker Auto Parts, they said they could read it with their scanner for free. NO GO they could not get their scanner to work.
The owners manual says the tune up sticker would say OBDII if it was equiped with it. but the sticker does not show OBDII anywhere. I have seen this sticker thing mentioned somewhere else before also.

Does anyone recognize the 16 pin plug in the picture as an OBDI style plug??????
