Getting the idle right
I have been having trouble getting my idle correct while the engine is cold. It doesn't run on its own while it is cold without a little throttle. This makes me think it is starved for air or it has too much fuel. I plugged it into the scanner (Snap-on) at work today and found the IAC count to be 94 and after 4 min it dropped to 77 where is remained. The o2 mv showed a rich condition, as does the smell of the exhaust and the plugs. I also show about 15 inches of vacuum which I think is about normal given the camshaft, TPIS zz4. THe TPS showed about .68 mv
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get the IAC count down?
If i remove the factory air snorkel thing I hear the loud noise of air being sucked into the engine. I remember reading here that that is a sign of too much IAC count. The engine is a 383 TPI 730 ecm.
Thanks in advance.
