Tuning VE on a 7747

I am very very new to this and have now gathered up most of the stuff to get started but I have a question that's probably pretty simple. I have read Tim's VE tuning article and I am wondering if the 7747 is the same as the 730 when it come to the VE tables and how you make the changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I start.

Basically, yes.
But, the 747 has an Extender table, that goes in conjunction with the main VE table.

Go slowly take notes, and after a while it will make more sense. With time it gets really easy.

Bruce,

Have you figured out what the relationship is for Table 2 to Table 1?
Is it additive or is there a function that goes along with invoking Table 2?

Take whatever values are at table 1 and add them to table 2. It's just that easy. Anything that adds up to more than 100 is seen as just 100. Your best bet is to set the data from 800 to 3200 all zero in table 2. Then use excel to make the fuel corrections to table 1 from data captured using winaldl. Just apply the copy, paste, spit out new corrected values and burn the new prom. This is the easiest way to bet your BLMs near 128 within 10-15 minutes or driving around in 2nd gear and drive. Then move on to the spark. With each burn it's usually a good idea to change the fuel. I think there is a program on the ftp server of www.diy-efi.org that will let you input the winaldl saved BLM data file, the current bin and it'll then spit out a new one with corrections. I haven't tried it yet so don't ask me. The excel document is also on the ftp server under the name "winaldlvefixer.xls".

JPrevost,

I started burning my latest batch of bin files setting Table 2 at 10 for all rpm ranges. Once I finalized a cal I was pleased with I thought I would just convert it over to a bin that had the original numbers in Table 2 as you described. Didn't seem to work. Motor wouldn't idle. I thought as you did but it doesn't seem to wanna work out that way.

Be careful with the number 2 adder table that you don't zero out the 0rpm cell! Keep it just a hair below your 800 value! Mine is set at 25 when at 20kpa and 800rpm cell has 25.7 , this should solve the idle problems. It did for me.
