Help!

I am experiencing a problem with the SD TPI in my Jeep . At first I though It was just a bad 29C256 but I have tried another one and tried the original prom that came in the memcal and I still have a Check engine light. My scanner won't communicate and I tried jumping pins A and B at the ALDL and it just stays on. Does not flash. I even tried the ECM out of my Corvette and I get the same thing. I am using Moates adapter in both. At first it was an intermittent problem now it just stays on no matter what. It will run just not real well. If I unplug the ECM the light goes out. Any suggestions? Also when the problem was only happening of and on before, the light would go out all of the sudden while driving and I could read the codes and it gave me a Prom Error.

You're pretty much down to either a bad MEMCAL or a bad Moates adapter.

Is there any specific procedure I should follow when swapping out proms? Maybe I am doing something wrong when I put another one in.

try cleaning the mecal with a bit of elctronics cleaner. i found some corrosion on mine from the slat content of the roads here in Mich. chances are it might be corrosion. if that doesnt check out lookinto seeing if maybe a solder joint borke loose or maybe the mecal is bouncing around on the adapter.

just some ideas to bounce around.

If you think you have a problem with the adapter, just let me know. I can send you a new one or whatever...

Thanks Craig, I am going to do some part swapping tomorrow to try to narrow down the problem. Your parts are great quality so I will probably find it is something I messed up on anyhow.

one last thought make sure theres no garbage clogging the adptater up. like dirt. criag your adapters are quiet stout ive got mine underhood in a 749. works great.
