Yeah,,,now I know. It seems I should have done a little more research before I bought this on e-bay. It has a VIN number locked in it from the last car it programed. I have a cop friend that ran the VIN number for me and I've contacted the people that have the car with the VIN. They said they would be glad to try to remove the programing and release the VIN.

In the mean time I called Hypertech and told them the story and that the people that the people were going to try to release the VIN number. I asked if there might be any problems. They said that if the Hypertech programing has been overwriten, the unit would say "Program not Found", and still would not release the VIN. This is contrary to what it says in the owner's manual that it came with. The manual says that it will re-write the programming with no problems. It says this on the web site FAQ as well. So, I said "what do I do then"? They said basically "Enjoy your new paper weight". Lots of help huh?

So if you're the original owner like the people with the car that are going to try to help me, or a second hand owner like me, if the programing gets over written, "Tough luck". If Craftsmen or Snap-On ran their buisnesses like this, I got to feel they would not be where they are now.

I know one thing, if this works out; great
If it doesnt; I will not buy anything from Hypertech ever.

Well just don't buy anything from E-bay until you check with the guys on the board first. We could of saved you a lot of trouble. Besides if your serious about a Hypertech chip even though there are some people that will tell you burn your own and so on, you might want to order from Jegs, Summit, TBIchips.com, and so forth. What kind of car do you have and all the specs because you don't have a SIG. We can help you out alot more then and until then ask questions before you do stuff.
