Is the stock MemCal required if running chip/adapter?
Is the stock MemCal required if running chip/adapter?
Is the stock chip required to be placed on the adapter?
Reason i am asking is when i bought the car, i bought a custom tune, from a guy on cz28.com. When we dropped the chip/adapter in, we did not put the stock chip(memcal) back onto the adapter because it didnt seem to fit into the ecu cavity.
My question is, my car doesnt seem to be running what it should, 93 lt1 z28. by not having the memcal on there, how does it effect the car? and what are potential dangers?
would place stock one in to see, but car is in the shop now.
Thanks guys.

For Speed Density cars absolutely, the MEMCAL contains the Electronic Spark Control board and the car won't be happy without it.
For MAF cars the MEMCAL contains the limp-home resistor pack (NETRES) and if you have a PROM failure you'll wish you had it.

I've tried it without, and with non-TPI, Resnets/stock memcal adapters, and it did't work. Anyone get it to work? I think that you need to have it on there, even for the MAF stuff.
