Tuning PE

Hey guys, looking for a little advice. Trying to tune my Stealthram setup. It's a SD setup, 383, Comp 220/230@.050 lift cam. Got the driveability down fairly well, except for a problem with tip in. I've got an A/F meter hooked up and whenever I give it a little extra I can watch it go way lean, sometimes it won't even register, and then recover. Naturally the car falls on it's face when this happens. So far I've added 20% in the AE delta TPS multiplier vs. delta TPS. Am I adding in the correct field and if so how much have you guys had to add to get it close. I'm just wondering if I'm even in the ballpark here or not. Tuning with tunercat, and BLM's are in the 120ish range. I'm just trying to get it nicely driveable before I try to really nail down the tables. Thanks

You need to hunt around and see if there is a commented hac available for your ecm. And then look to see what variables are available for tuning a specific area. Tunercat is a quick and easy way for most folks to get the calibration right, but it isn't all inclusive. He is responsive to adding items to a tdf thou.

There is probably a AE vs Delta MAP that may be an aid.

In some cals I've had to go 500% to get the AE right. Sometimes it takes alot to get the AE right.

"AE" is Acceleration Enrichment. It works sort of like the accelerator pump on a carburettor (but on a Delco can also be fine tuned for other stuff like coolant temperature). JAY87GTA is trying to cure a lean condition on acceleration by increasing the fuel added for a given throttle position sensor change. That's a newbie explanation.

Now can someone tell me what "tip in" is in JAY's post? Is this an "Americanism" for AE (:-)) , or is it Delco jargon?

There are two Official meanings to Tip-In. One Ford, and one GM.

As far as tip-in and GM, Tip-in is moving the throttle enough to go from like 25 to 28 MPH, over say 5 secs, as a min, and maybe 65 to 70 on a small grade.

There is also often a min Delta TPS in the calibrations tables that sets then min amount of delata TPS for waking up the AE stuff. But, that can really eat into you mileage, on some cars.

Another way of looking at Tip-In is the initial AE needed OTHER THEN Delta MAP or LV8.

Doc's shaking his head so maybe I confused ya'll. If so ask again.

Thanks Grumpy. I've added alot to the Delta TPS table. So I started to play with the Delta MAP table, and well, seems to have helped quite a bit. So now I'm pointed in the right direction. Thanks to all the pioneer's!:hail:
