Weird source code ford vs. gm question

Okay, first off, thanks to anyone who replies.

Now, I saw some neat Ford gauges for cheap. I am trying to take into account what would be necessary to install them into a thirdgen. The speedo shouldn't be a problem--convert w/ a box. The tach is what is slowing me up. The tach has a digital panel that shows time and temp (possibly direction, I can't remember). I was lead to believe that some of the tach fxn maybe computer driven. In order to carry this fxning over to the thirdgen, would one *only* have to copy the related source code from the ford computer and write it into a prom for the thirdgen? Or, are ford computers set up differently and is this just a total waste of time?

Thanks,

MILT

You'd need to find room in the GM code for the new lines of code you want to add.

If it is computer driven could you just grab the Ford ECM and hook it up to just use the functions fo the guages you want?
