Diacom users please inside
After seeing how Glenn and a few others have converted diacom files to a dbf format and opened them in excel , i decided to give it a try. Except its not working for me for some reason. No matter how small of a file i am trying to convert to a d-base format it keeps translating it until im out of disc space and gives me a disk full prompt and it doenst matter if i use a disc i wiped, had laying around or a freshly formatted one. just keeps translating unitl whatever im copying it to is full and it doenst copy to said device cause it never finished translating.
Anyone have a way around this?
Or is it just converting to the dbf format is that much larger?
from what the manul says it will translate one for each screen saved so i should have the same number translated that i do when viewing it using retrieve?
Anyhelp would be appreciated
thanks

I run WinXP and have no problems running Diacom (for data transfer only, I have not tried logging with XP since my laptop is as old as my ECM). Install it to your root directory so you can just run "cmd" from the Start-->Run line and then do a good ole c: to get the c prompt, then do the normal c:\>diacom-p
FWIW, I think it is easier this way, since you can have the DOS shell open and explorer open behind it...
A hint is that when you go to disk->translate->Dbase, you will type the entire directory location of the file minus the extension...as in
c:\vette\files\runs\03030103
as opposed to
c:\vette\files\runs\03030103.gdf

I find using the scope mode, the most useful.
Lining up the various parameters, and seeing what's going on in several fronts, really works for me.

grrrrrrrrrr. no matter what i try to do mine just keeps on "translating" files till im out of space :-(
I've tried everything that i can think of and it just keeps on translating
might even try and reload diacom and see if that does anything....
from what everyone is tellling me here i should be able to translate 3500ish or so frames into database onto a disc, but it hates me lol
will figure it out, has to be easier wading thru excel than doing it by hand onto charts and then figuring into tunercat for he VE
thanks
