AT29C256 Prom failure?
This is the 2nd or third time I've had this happen, tonight was at the track so it was a little more disappointing. Anyways, TBI car 746 comp. with moates memory switcher and PP2 programer. Car ran fine for ~1 1/2 days and ~100 miles. In staging lanes the SES light starts flickering upon start up, switch to a different program, it goes OK for like 20 sec then that one does the same thing. Get 2 runs in on a 3rd program. Then final run, it fails right off the line 37 @49 mph (yeah!!) 5.9 sec 60'. With in 2 miles of driving all 8 programs fail and I drive home with the SES light flickering. I haven't tried re=programming yet to see if it works, but I'm pretty sure it will.
Do these chips have a limited amount of re-programs? Probably re-programmed this one ~10-20 times. I set it all to FF program to clear, then program what I want on there.

The only two things I can think of, which would be my fault (could be major from an electronics point of view, I don't know), are occasional direct sunlight and possible loose connection(socket into socket instead of ZIF socket)
Well anyways, I soldered my new ZIF socket I just got on there and soldered the switch into its socket on the board. Re-programed the bad chip and works fine for now. Definately gonna carry an extra chip with me at all times now.

I haven't been writting FF to all addresses, shoud I? I just programmed over them, they've all verified, never a failure. Sunlight shouldn't be the problem but loose connections or prolonged high resistance in one of the pins from a poor connection could possibly have been the problem.
