Basic Memcal questions from newbie

I'm building up a speed density tpi for my 350 powered 55 Chevy and trying to save money at every turn. I've acquired a 727 weather pak ecm from a V-6 car. I have a couple of memcals. One is from a V-6. The other is from a MAF V-8. The V-6 has an ESC module on it. The V-8 has none. Here are my questions:

1. Is a 727 ecm the same (other than the memcal of course) regardless whether it came from a 6 cyl or 8 cyl?

2. Can I use anything from either of these memcals? I plan to burn a new eprom using a downloaded bin. Will the ESC module work on the V-8? Will the limp home ckts work in my app? Or am I going to have to buy a new memcal and then remove the VATS and EGR stuff myself?

Thanks in advance

Steve

1. Yes.

2. No. You need an SD V8 Memcal.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Okay, then where do the smart guys go to buy memcals? I've got the Delco P/N. Just down to the local parts guys or is there a better price than that out there?

Thanks,

Steve

Not sure of your location - some better deals exist in your local area. A lot of people like GM Performance Parts.
