eeproms for 730 ecm need help badly!!!
i have the pp2 and the amtel 28c256 eeprom chips. i am using winbin with the 730 definition file. i have copied my stock bin to the hard drive and gone through it with winbin changining nothing, i then go to burn the new eeprom with no modifications even and the car doesn't read fromt he chip at all. i can take the chip out of the ziff socket and the car still runs the same(very badly) i put the stock chip in the ziff socket and the car runs great. i have checked the continutity of the ziff socket into the memcal and it is great. my test with the stock ship proves this. sowhat is the problem.. i can't even burn a copy of the stock chip into the eeprom and read allt he directions. someone help me please.

You need 29C256's for EEPROM chips for a 730 or you can you a 27C256 EPROM chip (UV erasable). I've never heard of anyone using (28C256's). That may be your problem.

First...
What size bin are you loading into the EEprom?
If the bin is 16K and you are loading into the lower half of the EEprom, then, you will have a problem.
Either double the bin using the copy command in dos or load into the upper half of the EEprom starting @$4000.
If the bin is 32K we will work from there.

Some eeproms need an intial starting point.
Generate a full lenght prom of FFs, and program the chip with that. Then try programming it the regular way.
Also everyonce in a while if one pukes, a reburn of all FFs might cure it.

28c256 eeproms and chip burning problems
hi everyone thanx for the info. i will try a 29 series chip to burn. for all the other info, i am trying to burn a 32K bin into the eeprom also it verifys and on top of that i tried to burn a eeprom with ff in all locations verify the eeprom and then burn the bin file. and it still didn't work. also as to the using 28c256 chips it says right in the article for switching maf to map ecms it gives the direct replacements for the stock e and eeproms to use for this project. so any other help is apreciated.
