Datalogging your Fuel Economy

All you would need is PW, Injector size, and MPH right?
Is this sort of thing even supported?

Some of the masks output the required informaiton in the form of accumulated miles and accumulated injector on time. This is through the ALDL connection and is for vehicle MPG displays. One that I know of is $8D.

RBob, is that the Head's Up Display for Y-bodies? I know those parameters exist, but don't function in the F-body AUJP version.

I guess people could try invoking it to see what happens. Worst that can happen is your SES light comes on.

Unfortunately, poor Diacom+ users (me) don't have that parameter. I am now realizing that there is a lot of things in the ALDL stream that Diacom+ does not display - not to mention any changes you may want to do with the ALDL data stream.

Time for me to start using Moate's scan tool.

I believe so (Y-body HUD). The accumulated miles & fuel are included in the regular ALDL stream and in another stream designed for the HUD (polled msg).

I don't see any switches or such to enable the generation of the data, it is just done all of the time. I wonder how much different the 8D mask is between the f-body and y-body usage?

Wow, to answer my own question: out of five $8D masks every single one has code differences! Yes, code differences, not cal changes, code changes. Here are the ones I compared:

AXCN vette stick
ANHT vette auto
AUJP f-body auto
AXXC (vette or f-body, don't know)
AXXF (vette or f-body, don't know)

Not one of the above matched another within the code. I am amazed, and disappointed too. This makes it all that more difficult to work with the $8D mask.
