Please let me know how bad of an idea this is.

4th-gen maf+3rd-gen car(165 ecm)=

The only way my uneducated butt can figure it out.First get the maf,maf translator and turbo buick frequency based maf(or the165basedfreqmaf).Next see what it takes to enable frequency based input in the code. Can you just hook up a frquency based maf to the 165 and it work?If not the code does support it. Once the code reads frequency then you could use buick maf/translator/4-gen maf with tweaks to maf tables/scalar.

OR hook up the frequency output on a 4th-gen maf sensor directly to the ecm maf input.Enable frequency input from maf in code. Then assemble some frequency conversion tables from the old low freq maf to the new mafs freq.

These are some random thoughts so it's ok if you think this is dumb.I really have never been trained to read/or modify code.I just figure if this idea might help (or make me look like an #ss).thoughts?

You can adapt anything you want but why?

I don't mean to be a ***** but, what is your goal here?? To spend the next two years working with maf?? I thought I was the last person to jump off that ship, and I was very skeptical at first.

Your maf integer is signed. Your limit is 255.. This can be 255 grams per second, or if you wanna modify the code, it can be anything you want.

You can even remove your maf, and plug in a map sensor and use that for input. All you need to do is rescale your load vs maf volts table, and modify your fueling + timing tables.

Or you could just swap to a better setup all together.
