performance resource vs. self burned??

I know from research that usually burning your own chip is best when it comes down the choice of an "off the shelf" one. Yet, I have around 200 bucks to spend and have heard that you can buy the equipment to burn your own for that much. I have NO clue on any of this especially burning chips so, if anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

The physical process to burn an "chip" is quite simple. Just follow the link to the article Mangus posted above and read it a couple of times. It's much simpler than you think.

Then if you have any specific questions or things you need clarified, just post a new question and people will help you out.
