how to cure black smoke......

Got lotsa black smoke, even a little at idle. My question is where do I start in terms of timing and VE tables to get the car running well without leaning it out too much and blowing it up. Could someone please help me out with this? I'm a newbie when it comes to the tables. Thanx.

Get Grumpy's Tuning Tips.

Black smoke should mean low BLMs- what does your scanner say?

If that is the case, your VE's are too high for the amount of air you're pumping, and so the ECM commands too much injector PW, therefore too much fuel.
