Hey everyone, my computer is failing the 'wiggle test,' while it's hooked up but being tapped gently, the engine is shutting off.
My question is, should I replace it or perhaps only the PROM chip in it? How do I know if the PROM went bad and not the computer? DOes a new computer come with a prom?

My symptoms are rough driving, car idles really rough on EVERY stop light/traffic stop and almost shuts off.

Please help!!!!

 

A new computer doesn't come with a PROM, because these are engine-specific and the ECM's aren't.

From your description the problem could be either the PROM or the ECM. Does the ECM light come on and does it set a malfunction code? What ECM have you got?
