Knock detector possible?
Knock detector possible?
Don't know if this post belongs here, but since you guys are the ECM guru's, i thought i'd give it a shot. Is it possible to adapt this knock detector to the 730 SD ECM? The 730 has all of the knock stuff on the chip. Is there any way to tap into a wire somewhere to make this work? I'd like to have a LED or buzzer go off if (when) the car knocks. The detector comes from the Buick GN web pages. The "knock signal" comes fron the knock module, which is on the 730 chip. Thanks.

The second picture will not work with a 730 because the 730 does not use an ESC module. You could probably buy an ESC off ebay for like 5 bucks. Then you should be able to hook up power, ground, and tap the knock sensor wire. Then hook up the LED as shown in the second circuit. My one concern would be that the ESC module when taped into the knock sensor would interrupt, or weaken 730’s ability to detect knock.
