Aldl cable and WinALDL

I recently purchased a cable and downloaded winaldl, but i am confused at somthing i read. Is it true that winaldl wont read data from a tpi eprom, say from a 1989 iroc with an arap chip, and if so will the cable still work and what software will i need to download to diagnose my prom.

It works fine on my '85 TPI.

maby try DataMaster sofware, it have many opitons , includes saving to logs during driving
