Running lean, need advice
First off, my plugs show lean. Very white. I don't get any noticable knock though.
Tonight, using Datamaster I see that under some conditions the L Term Adj ( BLM?) goes high, to like 155-183. At the same time, the S Term C Counts (INT?) goes high as well. The L Term C Counts brings us a question. What is it? Is that the BLM? If so what is the L Term Adj? It stays low. Very jumpy though. It will be around 118-136. What does this jumping around indicate?
Does the CCP coming on have anything to do with the INT going high? Examining the playback makes me think the very high INT is related to the CCP. I don't have the CCP connected to the engine, it is in the car with a hose pointed down under the engine compartment.
Any thoughts please. Thanks.
Ryan

Running closed loop will typically leave plugs bone white.
Can you post that file somewhere for downloading?. This is with the 8D code?.

The hose from the CCP that used to go to the engine is not plugged. I just routed it down away from the engine compartment. On the TB, I just used a vacuum plug over the port. You nailed it, bone white plugs.
Do you mean the Datamaster file from my recording? I don't think I know how to post the file for downloading, but I will see if I can.
Yes, $8D.
Thanks

Email me one if you can, I think I can look at it. I have Datamaster on the one computer.

Thanks Grumpy
I opened the window for Spark Knock Retard warning and watched the play back as the CCP duty went up. Just like you said, it sure was pulling out timing. I wonder why.
I will try in the morning to unplug the cannister and see if that helps.
Do you know how I could "turn off " the CCP in the PROM? Using TunerCat I see 6 switches for CCP enable and disable. Would setting any one of those parameters, say MAP, to the same enable and disable value effectively "turn off" the CCP permanently. Like I said earlier, it does not even purge to the engine, just the atmosphere.
Thanks again...

My plug insulators run bone white also.
Look at the base circle of the plug shell.....at the end of the threads.
That's where I look to analyze mixture....
My insulators are ALWAYS snow white. Can't tell anything there.
The base becomes actually part of the combustion chamber when the plugs are in there so what you see there is what the cylinder sees, mixture wise.
Anybody else do it this way?

I will try that next time I pull some plugs. I can say that on the first set of plugs, before I changed the fuel map a little to compensate for the cam, the plugs were black and smelled like gas. And the exhaust smelled like raw fuel.
