computer swap??Auto,L98 to T-5,LB9

I have an 88 IROC, auto, L98. I want to put the L98 in a 5speed 305 z28, between 1990-1992. What exactly I'm i going to have to do with the computer since the 350 computer is for an auto and the 305 computer is for the 305? Is there any way around a custom chip? And if i use the 305 chip on the 350, will it run crapping?

First you have two completly different ECM's. The 88 is a MAF 165 ECM, the 90-92 is a MAP (SD) 730 ECM.

Either can be used with either engine, just match the bin in the Eprom (the chip inside the ECM) with bin from a 5 speed 305. (which the 730 should already be). Since their are no stock 350 with 5 speed bins, you have to use a 305 based calibration and work from there.

Since I take you are going to a 90- 92 Z28, using the 730 would be the way to go, since the wiring is different between a 730 and 165.

Please read Traxion's guide to programming in the sticky's above.

cheers, BW
