Anyone Using SPEP Plus?

I am trying to burn chips with the SPEP Plus, using Atmel 29c256 chips for my 1990 vette. I am not having any luck, they burn and verify in the programmer, but no go at the ECM. What software are you using, I was using the software that came with it, but I am no longer running win 98 anywhere so probably need to get something that will work with XP.

Thanks,
Doug

I have a SPEP and had a bit of trouble with it initially, but its all sorted now. Does you 90 Vette use a 32k or 16k bin?
If its only a 16k bin, you might want to try writing it to the 2nd half of the eeprom or double stacking it.
Ben.

I know this is an old thread.... but I just ran into the same problem myself. My SPEP will burn and verify 29C256's and 2732A's, but like Doug, they won't work in the ECM. I went back to an old PC still running Win98 and it burns the chips just fine. The machine that won't work is running 2000 Pro. I don't know if it's an operating system thing or a speed thing or what?

I have had mixed success with mine. I now use an IBM laptop running xp and i can burn most chip types. However when i used it with other laptops and desktops, there were some types i could not burn.. For me, it seems it seems to work with better with some computers than others..
What version of the software are u using?

I've tried using the PPII v. 1.47, 1.93 and 2.12 all with the same results. My laptop using Win2000 won't burn them, but the Win98 machine does.
