I passed the IM240 with Traxion's advice!!!
I used the tips from Traxion here to PASS on the first try!!!
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ight=emissions
I just set my injector constant to 37.5 (up from32.4), disabled closed loop, and set the fans to turn on a bit later and it went through the fast pass test with no problems.
Here are my readings:
....................HC..............CO.............CO2
Standard: 0.197 ............ 1.157 ........ N/A
Reading: 0.195 ............ 0.000 ........ 201.200
YEA!!!!

anytime someone passes smog it's a good thing.
I think the lack of responses is probably because your car would have passed with no help at all. you have a relatively mild cam, the HOT cams even pass in california in IM240. I think back then trax was already running 230+ on the intake and 240+ on the exhaust for cam duration, which is
not an insignifigant jump from the HOT cam.
that's just my guess though.
cool car none the less. i actually prefer the cleaner lines of the low spoiler and the wheels on 88-90 irocs (like yours) over my 91 z28.
oops, i just re-read your post, and noticed the no cat. that makes things a bit more interesting. it's also interesting that your HC's were near max even with your injector constant up (thus leaning the setup). what are your BLM's normally? I bet with a cat that thing would sniff nearly as clean as .. well, pretty clean anyways.

Great Job!
This kind of stuff gives me hope in case they bring emissions testing out here before I'm exempt
With the setup I'm gonna be running here soon, there isn't a chance I'd pass as-is.
I think it's 25 years and older before the car is considered classic and exempt from emissions in Illinois, but I could be mistaken...

Good job slow98!
Nice mods and beating the sniffer. WTG.
I would like to try once myself, I just keep speedo under 5000 instead. IM exempt.
Kinda sux, 2 mile down road does not require at all.

I passed with flying colors. Infact, the guy said my emissions were better than a lot of late model imports.
Theres no reason not to pass. If your car is running pig rich, its broken.

Two miles down the road probably puts him in another county, one that doesn't have IM inspection, at all.
RBob.
In Pa. a vehicle driven under 5,000 miles a year is exempt from the sniffer. Still needs to pass visual, so as long as it looks OK and isn't all hacked up, your good to go.

Now I have had a problem with not waiting exactly 365 days or more between - but then you go to another and they tell you thats not true either. its inspection to inspection.
But I could believe that is in there what you said somewhere, But I have had very strict stations tell me I do not need.

The previous time my car was in the mechanic went over the emissions equipment with a fine tooth comb. It was all there too. Then the last time I don't even think he opened the hood.
Any more it all seems to be what mood they are in that day. . .

I know exactly what you are saying, I've seen the same. Happened to my brother with the 'has to be at least 365 days from the last time for the 5,000 mile exemption', but it isn't true, it is inspection period to inspection period.

My arguement was, the previous year my car had gone 3 months out of inspection so I would have to do the same every year until eventually I was back at square 1 again. LOL.
When I lived in Il. Relocated to Florida last year for work.
My 85 vette failed the IL emision. I installed a cat and passed with flying colors.(My setup up back then was somewhat mild compared to now.) This was about 4 years ago.
Depending on your insurance company. You can get a type of show car insurance. I drove less than 4000. I claimed the exemption in IL. It last 2 years. Actually I still have my vette registored in IL. I plan to get fl tags in the next 30days.
No smog test here

The hotcam basicly only needs an idle tune for emissions purposes. My idle numbers were 5-6x higher than the limit but accel and cruise were well within limits with an occasional decel spike. Glad to hear you pass.
