Could somebody confirm this procedure for me or set me straight?

I'm trying to use the AT29c256 in place of the 27c128.
To modify the original bin to fit the 256, I'm inserting ff's at the 0000 position (dec radio button selected). If I burn this to the chip, will it work. Thanks in advance. I'd like to finalize this today.

Probably overworking the issue.

Just burn your 16k bin to the 32k chip starting at hex 4000 and going to hex 7FFF.

I thought that's what I was doing. I will read my 32k chip to see if the info ends at 7FFF. This is the verification I needed.
Thanks.

o.k.,
If I'm able to repeat the data on the chip so it shows up in the last half, do I have to erase the data in the first 4000?

no need (the data in the lower half of the chip is never seen/accessed by the ECM). burn at offset 4000 and you're set!

Do you mean, the data on the first half is never seen? That would make more sense because , otherwise, why would I have to try burning to the last 4000?

lower half == first half

address $0000 is lower than address $4000, therefore $0000-$3FFF is "lower than" $4000-$7FFF.

=) Semantics shemantics.
