Does the kind of trans you use affect what bin you should start with?
I have been doing my research since I am just starting with reprogramming my eprom. My ecm is 1227302 for an auto (700R4) and 2.8L v6. I was planning on moded the eprom to work with a 3.4L w/ a M5. Is the $3a bin the one I want or is there a better way to go?

It is best to change to a manual bin when changing the transmission from an auto to a stick.
You will still use the $3A mask, just a different BCC (Broad Cast Code). The BCC defines the particular calibration. As an example there can be two different BCC's where the only vehicle difference is the rear end ratio.
As far as which one to use, I don't know what the 2.8l BCC's are. I just looked at Davis's site and the TGO FAQ, and nothing. Hopefully someone can help out.
RBob.
