programming a 512 from a 256

I am sure it's in here somewhere, but I have not been able to find it. If someone knows, please respond - thanks.

I got Craig Moates 27SF512 chip and adapters, for my '7730 from Howell.

The chip from Howell was a 27C256.

1) I read the Howell chip switching the PPII for this chip.

2) I read it in winbin with the 7730v3.ecu.

3) Saved the BIN with a new checksum.

4) I used TunerCat to stack the bin for a 512K - right?
(e.g. BIN size = 32K, CHIP SIZE = 512K, Switch Block Size = 32K).

5) I also verified the programming and it checked well.

The truck stays in Limp mode, CEL always on.

Am I supposed to start and stop the programming at a different address? If so where.

Back to searching.

Thanks.

First question,

Should the buffer/bin be a 32K file or a 512K file?

Second question, where should the Buffer Start, Device Start, and device end be?

I am using

Buffer Start = 00000
Device Start = 00000
Device End = 0FFFF

Thanks.

I am trying a 32K bin now.

Still searching the archives...

chip size for a 27SF512 is 64kilobyte (64k). That looks like your problem.

bin size = 32k
chip size = 64k
switch block size = 32k

Oh, and not to be picky, but you used TunerPro, not TunerCat. Nothing against TunerCat. :-D
