Injectors: How big is too big?
Injectors: How big is too big?
I know there are formulas for figuring out how much injector you need minimum, but when do you get to the point in size where the injectors are too big and they can't be controlled at idle and part throttle? I ran across a set of injectors and was wondering. I pulled the Procharger off in lieu of a decent size turbo and plan on turning up the boost from about 11 lbs to 17 or so. The 42lb injectors had duty cycles up in the high 90's before so I think I am going to go ahead and step the fuel up a little too.

My lil 242 CID v6, has 60 PPH injectors, idles at 750 RPM in gear.
Batch fire mode.
If you look at the Thread Hard Core Data, you can see what it looks like just coming off idle. ie 900 RPM and 60 K/Pa, 2.2 msec PW.
The 60s are rather unique in their behaviour at short PWs.
I have had 55s which are Peak and Holds, also idle well with a modifed 749.
The bigger injectors take more time to dial in, since any given change makes more of a difference.
