Help with '7730 VEs

Background - '7730 - Holley 4 Barrel TBI - from Howell, no spark control (e.g. mechanical HEI).

I am using TunerPro with 1227730_8dm.ecu

This was originally a 350 automatic trans prom from Howell.

Now it's sitting on a 409 BBC in front of a manual transmission.

I have read Traxion's Part throttle VE tuning
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=39254

What I have done
I left Howell's original BPW alone, assuming it is correct.

I had to take out almost 10 points from almost all the tables in the lower and upper VEs to get 128 BLMS, two or three LOWER VEs are still running as low as 124 when I decellerate.
Is this "close enough"?

My thoughts

As I am currently running a mechanical distributor with changed springs and adjustable vacuum, Should I be trying to get the most vacuum at part-throttle and rpm cruise with 128 BLMS?

I thought maybe I need more advance, but then my vacuum went down (KPAs went up) all across the rpm range. While my BLMS went down (120s).

Do I still need to lower my VEs? Even though the spark was advanced? Or should I back off the ignition now that I lost vacuum move on to the more exciting AEs and PEs?

The pump shot is really far off. It's almost to the point of the engine dying.

Thanks.

Tuning a VE table to match a mech distributor is going to be off, from what any chip guy would expect. You can't get a mechanical distributor to do the things you can do with timing in code.

Trying to get injectors to act right with 1/2 voltage maybe challenging. yes, the AE might need alot of work.

Thanks for replying.

So, am I shooting for as much vacuum as I can get with both spark and VEs at 128?
